Terms of Service

Welcome to AE Knives. By placing an order you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. 

1. General

These Terms and Conditions apply to all orders placed with AE Knives.

To place your order, I kindly ask that you complete the age verification process.

Accepted forms of ID are:

  • Passport
  • Citizen Card
  • Driving Licence

Please ensure that your chosen ID is valid and clearly visible in the photo you provide.

Please provide a selfie / photo of yourself holding your chosen form of ID, ensuring that both your face and the photo on your ID are clearly visible so they can be matched.

Please also ensure that your postal and billing address match the address shown on your ID.

Once your age verification has been successfully completed, I will be able to proceed with your order. Payment instructions, including my bank details, will be provided after your age verification has been approved.

 

2. Eligibility 18+ ONLY

By purchasing from AE Knives, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age.
  • It is legal to purchase and possess the knife in your location.
  • You are responsible for complying with all local laws regarding ownership, importation, and use of knives.

I reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order if I believe it may breach applicable laws.

 

3. Handmade Products

Each knife is individually handcrafted.

As a result:

  • Minor variations are normal.
  • Product photographs are representative only.
  • No two handmade knives will be completely identical.

These variations are not considered defects.

 

4. Custom Orders

Custom work is created specifically to the customer's agreed specifications.

Before work begins:

  • Design details will be discussed and agreed upon.
  • A 50% deposit or full payment if preferred will be required.
  • Once production has commenced, changes may not be possible and the order can not be cancelled for a refund.

Custom-made products cannot be returned or exchanged unless they are faulty.

Estimated completion times are provided as guidance only and may vary depending on workload and material availability.

Average time to complete an order is 12-18 weeks.

 

5. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • All knife designs, models, drawings, photographs, branding, logos, website and social media content, and original artwork created by AE Knives remain Adrian Etheridge's intellectual property.
  • Commissioning or purchasing a knife does not transfer ownership of the underlying design.
  • Customers may not reproduce, manufacture, copy, or commercially exploit my designs without written permission.

During the design process, sketches, renders, photographs, models, and design concepts may be shared with customers solely for review and approval. These materials remain my intellectual property and must not be copied, distributed, published, or used for manufacturing by any third party without written consent.

Unless a confidentiality agreement has been agreed beforehand, I reserve the right to display completed work and design images in my portfolio, website, or social media for promotional purposes.

 

6. Pricing and Payment

Prices are listed in British pounds.

Payment is due as stated or as agreed for custom commissions.

 

7. Postage and Delivery

Every order is carefully packaged to help ensure it arrives safely.

  • UK: Free postage on all orders.
  • European Union: I do not ship to EU countries.
  • USA and Other International Destinations: Postage is charged at cost. The shipping charge will be confirmed once your order has been completed.

In some cases, on completion a separate payment for postage costs may be required before your order is dispatched.

Estimated delivery times are provided by the postal or courier service and are estimates only. They are not guaranteed.

Once your order has been handed to the postal or courier service:

  • Responsibility for the shipment passes to the customer to the extent permitted by applicable law.
  • Delays caused by customs, weather, postal disruption, or the carrier are beyond my control.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing a complete and accurate delivery address.
  • Paying any import duties, customs fees, tariffs, taxes, or other charges imposed by the destination country.
  • Ensuring that the knife is legal to import, possess, and own in their country, state, province, or local jurisdiction before placing an order.

If a parcel is returned because an incorrect address was provided or because it was not collected, additional shipping charges may apply before it can be resent.

Where shipping insurance has been purchased, any claim for loss or damage will be handled in accordance with the carrier's claims procedure.

I am not responsible for losses arising from delays, failed deliveries, or other issues caused by the postal or courier service once the order has been dispatched. However, where applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise, nothing in these terms limits or excludes your statutory rights.

 

8. Inspection on Delivery

Please inspect your order upon arrival.

Any damage, defects, or missing items should be reported within 7 days of delivery, together with photographs where possible.

 

9. Returns and Refunds

For standard (non-custom) products:

Returns may be accepted within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is unused, in its original condition, and suitable for resale.

Customers are responsible for return postage unless the item is faulty.

Custom-made or personalised products are non-refundable except where required by law or where the item is faulty.

Refunds will be processed after inspection of the returned item.

 

10. Warranty

My knives are intended for their designed purpose and are made using quality materials. 

This warranty does not cover:

  • misuse;
  • abuse;
  • improper sharpening;
  • neglect;
  • Poor maintenance;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • accidental damage;
  • modifications made after purchase.

 

11. Limitation of Liability

Knives are inherently sharp tools and must be used responsibly.

By purchasing our products, you accept responsibility for their safe handling, storage, transport, and lawful use.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AE Knives shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from misuse of AE Knives products.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.

 

12. Customer data

Age verification documents are used solely to verify your age. Once verification and delivery has been completed, copies will be deleted. 

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
